Yay! The weather is warmer, and summer is upon us! It's my favorite time of year and every summer I vow to spend as much time outside as humanly possible. This includes birthdays! As a June baby, I've had most of my birthdays outside, either just playing in a park, at a beach or just enjoying our own backyard.
My mom always had a theme for my birthdays, which made them so special no matter what the outdoor location.
Winter is a long season - and the current health restrictions can make you feel like hibernating until Spring. But we’re strong, tough Canadians - we don’t let cold or snow get in the way of a good time. A small outdoor kids’ party (a maximum of 10 people can get together outdoors) can be a lot of fun. So, embrace your inner ‘Elsa’ because I’m going to guide you on how to throw the best outdoor winter party ever!
‘COVID-friendly’ has become a standard descriptor in this new normal we are all adjusting to, so it’s only fitting that we bring it into the world of celebrations and birthdays. I’m sure the March through June birthdays of 2020 had birthdays like no other. I am hoping everyone got creative and found ways to connect, have fun, and make great memories! If not, fear not! Pop these ideas into your back pocket for your wee one’s next birthday celebration!
One way to interact with friends from a distance is to have a virtual party using apps like Google Hangout, Zoom, or Skype. My daughter has been using Google Hangout to practice her musical theatre play with the kids in her class. This technology allows people to see and speak to everyone, so it is the next best thing to being in a room together.
