Food Blogs - Eating Their Words

Food blogs appeal to those who crave a personal connection with the source of their food, including a sort of personal relationship with those who provide recipes. Even with such a modern, technologically savvy platform, food blogs remind me of a time when recipes were shared among family and friends, neighbors or passed down from generation to generation. They allow a window into personal lives and the circumstances surrounding the food we eat, feeding our inner voyeurs as well as our tummies.

Just Peachy

During the summer there is an abundance of fresh fruit available in grocery stores, farmer’s markets, pick-your-own and market gardens. I find it easy to become overwhelmed with the amount of fruit to eat and the work involved in preserving fruit. Fortunately, freezing is a simple way to preserve fruit. By carefully following directions, you can enjoy top quality, nutritious fruit year-round.

Dinner With Julie - Chicken with Sourdough Dumplings

My name is Julie, and I’m a recipe-a-holic. There are worse vices (unless recipe addiction involves stockpiling decades’ worth of food magazines, and taking in any others that friends threaten to recycle). I have loved them since I was a kid. I know I’ve told you the story of pilfering peoples’ cookbook shelves and recipe boxes when I’d go over to babysit, after the kids went to bed.

I have in my travels thumbed past many a recipe for chicken & dumplings. So many, in fact, that I have become oblivious to them, even though it’s something I’ve never actually made before. Somehow it just blips past my radar: chicken & dumplings - know that one. Not even a glimmer of interest flitters through my mind. (Chicken and biscuits, yes - but that’s a whole different thing.)
